A varied selection of art and craft will be on show and for sale including paintings, drawings, prints, textiles, handmade books, corseted eveningwear, jewellery, recycled accessories and upcycled furniture.  It will be a great opportunity to buy original, one-off or limited edition pieces direct from local artists and designers.

There will also be artist representatives from several arts organisations and charities including Creekside Artists and Cor Blimey Arts (artist-led cooperatives with studios based in Faircharm Trading Estate) and London Youth Support Trust (a locally based charity helping disadvantaged young people who were previously unemployed to build sustainable businesses).

FAIRCHARM FAIR is coordinated by Creekside Artists and coincides with several other events along Creekside, including Open Studios at Creekside Artists, Cor Blimey Arts and Cockpit Arts and exhibitions at Core Gallery and APT Gallery.  It is also part of a wider local event titled ‘GIFTED: A weekend of art and design in Deptford.’

Drawing activities, music and a pop-up café will add to the festive atmosphere, and Creekside Artists will be serving mulled wine in their studios throughout the weekend.  Admission is free and all are welcome!  At the weekend, it’s possible to park within Faircharm Trading Estate but the area is also very well connected with good bus, rail and DLR transport links.

Portrait Patrol Day 2

The second day of the Portrait Patrol had the Creekers Necole Schmitz, Victoria Trinder, Dave Ravenwood, Marleon Hefer, Emma Louise Fenton and Siobhan Keane take cover under one of the arches next door to Arch Materials.

The day was a very productive one, with collaborative drawings taking place all day, exploring viewpoints and ownership.

Artists in Residence at Deptford X 2010!

For this year’s Deptford X, Creekside Artists were selected as ‘Artists in Residence’ for the festival launch.  Artists Necole Schmitz, Victoria Trinder, Emma Fenton and Sofie Pinkett transformed a wall of The Albany Theatre into a giant blank canvas and encouraged attendees to draw on the walls, creating a large collaborative drawing inspired by aspects of the local area and their day-to-day lives.  Drawing continued over the weekend in the Albany foyer, with artists Victoria Trinder, Caroline Underwood, Sofie Pinkett and David Ravenwood on hand for ideas and inspiration.  Passers-by were encouraged to step in and participate or watch the artists at work.  The completed work is on display in the foyer and cafe of the Albany, throughout Deptford X.
